All of existence is energetic. Not only are beings comprised of energy but so too are thoughts, emotions, belief systems, and wishes; everything that we create with our minds and hearts exists on an energetic level, just as real as the physical realm. All of this forms a collective energetic field.
You can think of a collective field like an ocean, connecting all energetic fields within it to one another. The collective field is all around us and interacting with us all the time. This includes all of our trauma and all of our joy, all of our fear and all of our love. Unless something is transmuted and released from the field, it remains there, accessible to connect to energetically at any time, already created and existing in the energetic realm and available for manifestation in the physical.
THOUGHT FORMS
A thought is a creation. Every thought you have ever had exists energetically and is floating around in the collective field, a part of the ocean of potentiality. Many of our thoughts are not original creations; they are thought forms we are pulling in from the collective. When you do this, you invite the energy of that thought into your personal field. The more you think it, the more established it becomes and the more strength it has on both a personal and collective level. Many of us lack understanding of this process and fall into the misconception that every thought we have is our own, is true, and that we have no authority over the mind.
Picture yourself floating around in the ocean that is the collective field within your own personal bubble. You come into contact with another bubble, a thought form, and within it is the thought frequency of “I am ugly”. When this connection occurs, the energetic frequency transfers to your field, and you think, “I am ugly”, to yourself. You are now at a choice point. Choice 1: allow the energy to take residence in your field by claiming it as your own. You agree with it, accept it as truth, and start repeating it to yourself, creating a new neural pathway in the brain. You feed it with your focus, and that energetic frequency becomes integrated into your field. Choice 2: when you think the thought, “I am ugly”, you have awareness, recognize it for what it is and choose to cease thinking the thought, ejecting the energy out of your personal field and mind.
EMOTIONS
Emotions are also transferable energy. Many people, especially empaths or sensitives, readily take on emotional energy from other people or the collective field and consequently experience emotions that don’t actually belong to them. This process of transference is not limited to emotions and thoughts; it pertains to all energetic forms of both low and high-frequency. It is important to understand that you are not a helpless victim of this. We all hold the potential to remember our innate ability to connect and co-create with high-frequency energy. However, this requires us to develop some skills.
SACRED SKILLS
1) Awareness
One of the most important skills we can develop is awareness, which allows us to intentionally tune into energy. The first step is realizing that you are not your thoughts, emotions or actions; you are the consciousness beyond them. Begin to observe your thoughts, emotions, perspectives, belief systems, actions and reactions. Are they serving you? Do you want to continue with your current patterns? When we observe ourselves without judgment, we can identify patterns that we may want to shift. We become less triggered and reactionary and are able to maintain steadiness and balance within our mental and emotional bodies, which greatly influences our physical and energetic bodies positively.
It is crucial to not police or judge ourselves with this process. It is not about stopping certain thoughts or emotions, which is impossible. Eradication of experiences is not the goal; observation is. It is becoming aware of particular patterns that are not serving us and choosing consciously what to do with them that is key. This is a process that takes patience. Awareness is a life-long practice, but over time, it will become second nature.
2) Discernment
A second invaluable skill is discernment which, in this context, is the ability to accurately read energy. Awareness allows you to be conscious of when you connect to an energetic frequency, and discernment will inform you whether or not you want to continue that connection. Discernment will tell you: 1) is this energy mine or not? 2) is this energy low frequency or high? 3) is this energy authentic in what it claims to be? With discernment, you will know if what you are thinking or feeling is a genuine expression of yourself or if it is energy that does not belong to you. You will know if what you are connecting with, whether it is information, a situation, a person, or a non-physical being, is high or low vibration. And you will know truth from falsity. When we have discernment, we can sense all of this. Our responsibility is to develop this for ourselves and not rely on others to tell us what to think, believe, feel, follow or do.
3) Energetic Hygiene
The third skill is the maintenance of our personal fields, which allows us to live within our authentic energy. Awareness and discernment help us reduce occurrences with energies we may not wish to connect with, but what about when we are just starting out with this practice? If we have been living without awareness or discernment for an extended period of time, low frequencies have already been integrated into the personal field, making mainstream techniques such as positive thinking, affirmations, intention setting, etc., ineffective for some individuals. What if we have an off day or experience an extended low period due to loss, grief or depression? The reality is that we are bound to occasionally take on some energies we don’t intend to, even when practicing awareness and discernment. This is why the third skill of energetic hygiene is so important. It allows us to clean up our energy body, regardless of our current state, and create space within it for higher energies to flow in. When we anchor these light frequencies into our personal field, it heals and shifts us, but it also heals and shifts the collective.
THE WAY FORWARD
Whether you want to make the world a better place, heal yourself and feel more peace in your life, or work with the energetic realm, the journey begins with developing the three sacred skills of awareness, discernment and energetic hygiene. When we maintain our fields, the higher frequencies we can hold within ourselves transfer into the planet and the collective field, raising the overall vibration of both. We cannot force other people to change; our true individual power lies in the healing and maintenance of self. This is how we create change within ourselves and the world.
